To fill a need in the community by providing a single source that €will act as a partner with parents, giving them all the support they need to properly provide for the future of their children who have a developmental disability or similar service need.
We provide guidance for parents to assure the right future for your child who has a developmental disability or similar service need. We can facilitate all activities. This means we will guide you in developing an action plan for your child’s future and match you with the right professionals.
Yes. We will first see if you have one, and then, with the assistance of a knowledgeable attorney make sure that it properly provides for the future care of your child according to your specific wishes.
This will be determined by the severity of your child’s disability. It is important that you name a guardian for your children if they cannot make financial and daily decisions about their care or if they are minors. Identifying a suitable guardian is necessary. We will also help you decide if a Conservatorship might be necessary in your child’s case.
A trust can be an important tool in insuring that your child’s inheritance is available to meet their needs throughout life as you intended. A properly written Special Needs Trust can also protect your child’s eligibility for government funding. We will explain how the trust will be set up and function. We can assist in selecting a trustee, which can be an individual or a financial institution. The trustee will manage and distribute the funds as you have specified.
LifeCare Planning can act as a central source for all the information and instructions you need in complying with all legal and procedural guidelines.
Besides helping you set up your program, we will also act as a monitor to assure that everything is being done properly and according to your wishes.
LifeCare Planning can act as an advocate for your child, when you are no longer able to fill that role. We will partner with the guardian and work with the trustee to make certain that appropriate services are delivered and funds made available for your child according to your specifications. We also work for needed legislative reforms, facilitate services from other agencies in the area and generally advocate for the rights of persons who have a developmental disability or similar service need.
If you have, congratulations. LifeCare is happy to review your plan with you to assure that it is complete and effective.
There is a nominal charge for the initial home visit. There is also a charge for future advocacy services. Additional professionals may charge fees for their services, if needed, in addition to investment and management fees connected with a trust.
Yes, you must have a son or daughter who has a developmental disability or similar service need and be able to sustain the nominal charges for services needed.
Following an initial in-the-home interview, to review your expectations and your child’s needs, LifeCare Planning will be available to work with you to develop a plan. If advocacy services are desired, a contract will be developed.
